September Roundup: Naked Cherry, Life, The Mind of Jake Paul & more

Okay better late than never, here comes monthly roundup #3! So the holiday season is approaching and makeup brands are releasing new products like crazy. Boy, I’m so excited to make a holiday wishlist post! My schedule is hectic as usual since I do work in the hospital during weekends, but during my off-duty days I try to catch up on some series and YT videos.

MAKEUP

Several brands dropped their Holiday palettes last month (and it was just September!) and now I’m confused on which of them I’m going to pick up. First to make a scene was Urban Decay. After news of discontinuing the original Naked palette, there came a leak from Instagram with regards to the upcoming Naked Cherry palette and everyone went crazy, including me. Then Too Faced released their Gingerbread Spice palette which looked oh so yummy! Come on, with a packaging like that, who could resist buying it? Colourpop also announced their collaboration with Disney and dropped their Disney Degisner Collection last September 28, few days after Anastasia Beverly Hills launched their smoky metallic palette Sultry.

편강 율 Pyunkang Yul Acne Line Review

I first heard about Pyunkang Yul when Gothamista raved about it in her youtube channel. Not long after, I’ve started seeing a lot of that gorgeous blue glass bottle packaging all over Instagram (I’m a sucker for blue packaging). I haven’t tried any of their products but I’ve heard a lot of positive reviews about it. Recently, they released their Acne Line and I was fortunate enough that StyleKorean picked me to try and review Pyunkang Yul’s new stuff.

The entire line is composed of the following:

  1. Acne Facial Cleanser
  2. Acne Toner
  3. Acne Spot Cream
  4. Acne Cream
  5. Acne Dressing Mask Pack

For your reference: My skin type is oily and my face used to be acne-prone during my teens and early 20’s, good thing it already calmed down. Although my face cleared up, my acne on my back did not. I have tried cleansers and toners recommended by Dermatologists but my back acne never really went away.Read More »

Neutriherbs Vitamin C Serum & Retinol Serum Review

There are so many serums out on the market but recently I was eyeing on Vitamin C serum due to several skin benefits. I plan to ditch my expensive Lancôme Advanced Génifique Youth Activating Serum and replace it with a cheap but effective serum. But picking a Vitamin C serum could be tricky; there are so many brands, with different forms and concentrations. I was supposed to buy a Korean brand but got sceptical because of the stability of the serum. I was just in luck as a couple of Nutriherbs serums were gifted to me for me to try.

Nutriherbs Vitamin C + Hyaluronic Acid Serum & Retinol + Vitamin E Serum

For your reference: My skin type is oily/combination. I used to have acne-prone skin during my teens and early 20’s, good thing my skin already calmed down. I’m starting to notice some fine lines around my eyes, which was probably due to early ageing caused by my years in medical school and residency.

I was fortunate to be selected by Jolse to try and review the 302WHITE II Step Nano Melting Bio Mask. However, due to some issues, I received my package almost a month late. I was so excited to try the masks after PhilPost finally informed me that my package was already available for pick up.

Active Ingredient: The main ingredient of this product is Panax ginseng, a medicinal herb native from Korea and China that has been used for thousands of years. It has been known to have several uses for vitality, immune function, cancer, cardiovascular diseases, improvement of cognitive and physical performance and sexual function, thus the genus name, Panax (Pan=all + axos=medicine) means ‘cure all’ in Greek.1,2  Recent studies have reported that ginsenosides (an active compound found in ginseng) have anti-allergic effects and anti-inflammatory effects.3 Panax ginseng is also known to promote collagen synthesis and suppress melanogenesis  (hence lighten the skin).4Read More »

Yey for monthly round-up #2! It’s been a very busy month so I was not able to follow a blogging schedule again. I do work 40 hours/week in the hospital and go to clinic 2-3x a week so I have almost one day off per week (which I spend on sleeping, malling and watching series/YouTube).

Drugstore Micellar Water Review: Biore, Garnier, L’Oreal & Nivea

If you’re a busy (and a lazy) girl like me then micellar water is your best friend. It’s cheap, hydrating and it removes dirt and makeup in an instant. I wished I have known micellar water when I was in 1st-year residency, a period when my skincare routine is non-existent. But now I can’t live without it, I have a bottle in my house, in my condominium unit, in the hospital and in my travel/duty bag.

Drugstore Micellar Water: Biore, Garnier, L’Oreal & Nivea

So for this post, I’ll review four popular drugstore micellar cleansers in the Philippines. Criteria for this review are affordability, ingredients and performance as a cleanser. As for ingredients, I’ll base this from CoSDNA, a site where product ingredients are analyzed for Comedogenic and Irritation (0-5) and Safety index from (1-9). The lower the number the better.Read More »

What’s in my Travel Makeup Bag: Cambodia

psx_20180724_0944271945939947.jpg

If you read my previous post you already know that I visited Cambodia last month. The last time I went to Cambodia was eight years ago, but we only visited Phnom Penh and skipped Siem Reap. Of course, I have to come back for Angkor Wat. Given that it was raining hard the whole month of July in the Philippines, I’m not sure what to expect with regards to Cambodia’s weather.

Because I was there for only less than three days I only packed a few things. Most of the products I packed with me are my daily essentials. Here are the products I brought:Read More »
