Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray Review

The worse thing than the unbearable summer heat is the sticky feeling of my makeup melting and sliding down my face. Even though most of the makeup products I’m using are relatively long-lasting, sometimes there are just limits to their longevity. That’s why I felt the need to resort to setting spray. If there’s a product that could make my makeup last the entire day without any touchups, I’ll definitely try it. When it comes to setting sprays it, (based on reviews), it seems like Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray is the gold standard. Let’s see what’s the fuss is about…

Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray

Product Description: Is makeup meltdown ruining your midnight mojo? Mist on this weightless spray to give your makeup serious staying power. Developed in an exclusive partnership with SKINDINÄVIA, this groundbreaking, clinically tested formula is suitable for all skin types and features patented Temperature Control Technology. It actually lowers the temperature of your makeup to keep foundation, eyeshadow, blush, and concealer in place—even in hot and humid or cold and windy conditions. The result? Smoother-looking skin and vibrant makeup that lasts all day (or night) without melting, cracking, fading, or settling into fine lines.

Directions: After applying makeup, shake the bottle well, hold 8″-10″ and mist face 2-4 times in an “X” and ”T” formation.

Ingredients: Aqua / Water, Alcohol Denat., PVP, Dimethicone PEG-7 Phosphate, PPG-3 Benzyl Ether Myristate, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Dipropylene Glycol, Isononyl Isononanoate, Ethylhexyl Isononanoate, Caprylyl Glycol, Sodium Cocamidopropyl PG-Dimonium Chloride Phosphate, Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer, Glycereth-5 Lactate, Sodium Hydroxide, Phenylpropanol, Parfum / Fragrance, Propanediol, Methyl Diisopropyl Propionamide, Poloxamer 407, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Powder, Maltodextrin, Hexyl Cinnamal, Linalool, Citronellol, Limonene, Benzyl Alcohol, Tocopherol, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, BHT.

Packaging: The updated packaging of this setting spray (previously white and violet) comes in a matte black and violet bottle with two caps; one big frosted cap and one little cap covering the purple nozzle.

Performance: Right after spritzing this product all over the face, I immediately felt the cooling effect of this spray. I then tested this product if it can withstand a day in Manila; It was the usual hot humid day that was followed by a heavy rain, I even rode the train and sweated all over, but my makeup was still intact. At first, I thought it was just a placebo effect, so I tested it the next day, spraying only half of my face. After 6 hours, I already felt the feeling of my makeup sliding down my face on half of my face while the other half (with the setting spray) still intact. It was so uncomfortable that I immediately washed my face as soon as I got home.

Also, do keep in mind that this spray doesn’t do much of oil control (UD did not claim such effects) so do not expect that this face will keep your face oil free.

Scent: The only thing I dislike about this product is the scent. It smells exactly like hairspray, something that you don’t want to spritz on your face. Good thing the smell only lasts for a few seconds.

Price: This setting spray is a bit pricey, the 118ml bottle costs around $32.00 while the 22ml smaller bottle is around $15.00. It’s more expensive than other setting sprays:

  • COVER FX Illuminating Setting Spray (120ml) $31.00

  • Kat Von D Lock It Makeup Setting Mist (120ml) $26.00
  • NYX Professional Makeup Setting Spray (60ml) $8.00
  • Tarte Rainforest of the Sea 4-in-1 Setting Mist (74ml) $25.00

It’s a bit expensive probably because of its Temperature Control Technology. If this product will effectively lower the temperature of my makeup while I am in a humid country, well go ahead Urban Decay take my money.

Availability: Sadly, we still don’t have Urban Decay here in Manila nor in Sephora PH. I was able to purchase mine from Sephora Singapore.

Final thoughts: This is probably the nth review of Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray you have read or seen. Like what most reviews raved about, this product actually works! It’s a bit expensive but so what, it does its job really really well. I actually love the fact that it cools down the temperature of makeup especially because I am living in a tropical country and now I have the option not to endure the icky feeling of my makeup melting down my face.
