This is probably the 100th review about Drunk Elephant A- Passioni Retinol Cream, but I decided to write another review about this, because if your reading this and you’re still undecided to spend a lot of money on a pricey (overhyped?) cream, I’m sure this short review can help you make up your mind.
So I got the Drunk Elephant A-Passioni Retinol cream same time around February last year. SephoraPH had a sale so I knew it was my chance to try this expensive tube and see for myself if it is really an HG status.
A clean, cutting-edge formula that combines 1.0% vegan retinol with nourishing, superfood-rich ingredients to dramatically diminish the appearance of fine lines, deep wrinkles and sun damage, revealing a vibrant, younger-looking complexion.
So from my previous post about Neutriherbs Retinol Serum, I already mentioned the benefits of retinol to the skin, especially its anti-aging effects. In short, Retinol works, and it’s backed up by science. I also pointed out the side effects of retinol which is irritation, including redness, dryness, and peeling.
Packaging: When I first got this product, I really loved the packaging; from the box to the actual tube. I have the older squeeze tube version, and I think really is a more practical packaging since you can control how much product you are going to dispense. Drunk Elephant already updated the formula as well as the packaging, but based on the reviews on Sephora the new packaging is awful.
Texture/Scent: It’s a yellow cream with a medicinal smell. A pea size of this product goes a long way, so you actually need a small amount.
Performance: As most reviews say, it’s really one of the best retinols out in the market. So after using this product for almost 1 year (and comparing to other retinols), I know that this really delivers results fast: my skin is plumper, softer, feels younger (despite the stress of this pandemic LOL). Maybe because my skin is already used to retinols, I never experienced any purging or irritations. I do use this product 3-4 times a week and I sometimes incorporate with a cream moisturizer if I had to use this on consecutive nights.
Price/ Availability: I bought this from Sephora at a discounted but still, this product is expensive. But because you only need a small amount this tube will last your months or even a year. My The Ordinary retinol serum only lasted for about a few months, so this DE retinol is still a good buy.
Final Thoughts: Like what several reviews have already said, this product is worth the price tag. It’s one of the best retinol creams I have tried. So if you have the money, go ahead and buy it! Will I repurchase? Yes, but I’ll wait for another Sephora sale and I’ll wait until they change their packaging.
