Holy Grail Cleansing Oil? DHC Deep Cleansing Oil Review

I am one of those people who used to believe that cleansing oils are not for oily people. I love micellar water too much that I never thought I’d be using other products to remove dirt and makeup until I have to remove most stubborn mascara ever. So I googled the best cleansing oil and based on several lists on the internet, I have encountered the Japanese brand DHC several times. An online store even pointed out that it’s the Holy Grail of cleansing oils. So maybe this is really something, let’s see…

DHC Deep Cleansing Oil

Product Description: An olive oil–based facial cleanser that dissolves makeup thoroughly with zero residue. Its nutritive formula effortlessly breaks down stubborn, waterproof mascara and eyeliner and emulsifies into a cleansing milk when you rinse. Great for removing excess oil and sunscreen, it’s a daily must-have even if you don’t wear makeup. Your skin will feel soothed, refreshed, and balanced. One try is all you need to see why millions of women swear by it.

편강 율 Pyunkang Yul Acne Line Review

I first heard about Pyunkang Yul when Gothamista raved about it in her youtube channel. Not long after, I’ve started seeing a lot of that gorgeous blue glass bottle packaging all over Instagram (I’m a sucker for blue packaging). I haven’t tried any of their products but I’ve heard a lot of positive reviews about it. Recently, they released their Acne Line and I was fortunate enough that StyleKorean picked me to try and review Pyunkang Yul’s new stuff.

The entire line is composed of the following:

  1. Acne Facial Cleanser
  2. Acne Toner
  3. Acne Spot Cream
  4. Acne Cream
  5. Acne Dressing Mask Pack

For your reference: My skin type is oily and my face used to be acne-prone during my teens and early 20’s, good thing it already calmed down. Although my face cleared up, my acne on my back did not. I have tried cleansers and toners recommended by Dermatologists but my back acne never really went away.

Neutriherbs Vitamin C Serum & Retinol Serum Review

There are so many serums out on the market but recently I was eyeing on Vitamin C serum due to several skin benefits. I plan to ditch my expensive Lancôme Advanced Génifique Youth Activating Serum and replace it with a cheap but effective serum. But picking a Vitamin C serum could be tricky; there are so many brands, with different forms and concentrations. I was supposed to buy a Korean brand but got sceptical because of the stability of the serum. I was just in luck as a couple of Nutriherbs serums were gifted to me for me to try.

Nutriherbs Vitamin C + Hyaluronic Acid Serum & Retinol + Vitamin E Serum

For your reference: My skin type is oily/combination. I used to have acne-prone skin during my teens and early 20’s, good thing my skin already calmed down. I’m starting to notice some fine lines around my eyes, which was probably due to early ageing caused by my years in medical school and residency.

I was fortunate to be selected by Jolse to try and review the 302WHITE II Step Nano Melting Bio Mask. However, due to some issues, I received my package almost a month late. I was so excited to try the masks after PhilPost finally informed me that my package was already available for pick up.

Active Ingredient: The main ingredient of this product is Panax ginseng, a medicinal herb native from Korea and China that has been used for thousands of years. It has been known to have several uses for vitality, immune function, cancer, cardiovascular diseases, improvement of cognitive and physical performance and sexual function, thus the genus name, Panax (Pan=all + axos=medicine) means ‘cure all’ in Greek.1,2  Recent studies have reported that ginsenosides (an active compound found in ginseng) have anti-allergic effects and anti-inflammatory effects.3 Panax ginseng is also known to promote collagen synthesis and suppress melanogenesis  (hence lighten the skin).4Read More »

Drugstore Micellar Water Review: Biore, Garnier, L’Oreal & Nivea

If you’re a busy (and a lazy) girl like me then micellar water is your best friend. It’s cheap, hydrating and it removes dirt and makeup in an instant. I wished I have known micellar water when I was in 1st-year residency, a period when my skincare routine is non-existent. But now I can’t live without it, I have a bottle in my house, in my condominium unit, in the hospital and in my travel/duty bag.

Drugstore Micellar Water: Biore, Garnier, L’Oreal & Nivea

So for this post, I’ll review four popular drugstore micellar cleansers in the Philippines. Criteria for this review are affordability, ingredients and performance as a cleanser. As for ingredients, I’ll base this from CoSDNA, a site where product ingredients are analyzed for Comedogenic and Irritation (0-5) and Safety index from (1-9). The lower the number the better.

Dear Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream Review

I have seen this fancy blue cream all over the internet especially in the AsianBeauty Community and it got me really curious. At that time I was looking for a night-time moisturiser, and although this was supposed to be a calming cream I thought that this might pass as a good moisturizer, hence an order was placed.

Product Description: A gentle spot treatment cream that provides comfort to rapidly calm & soothe sensitivity. Powered by nature, its star ingredients are Guaiazulene, a natural component extracted from chamomile oil, which carries powerful skin calming abilities, and Centella Asiatica, which helps hydrate and relieve redness.

Packaging:  This is probably one of the most photogenic creams I’ve seen.  It’s popular in #ABcommunity and #TextureTuesdays posts on Instagram. Who couldn’t resist on photographing the elegant glass packaging and the periwinkle colour of this cream? Also, this comes with a nice spatula for application.Read More »
